5 Heroes Characters I Want in Heroes Reborn

When Heroes came out in 2006, it quickly become one of my favorite shows. Despite it's long, drawn out story lines, I was immediately hooked by its stories of ordinary people discovering their extraordinary powers and destinies. Even as the show was cancelled, I remained glued to my seat waiting for some form of "more" Heroes. I felt like I was watching a Marvel movie, waiting for the "secret movie" after the end credits. After waiting through 9 years worth of end credits, I finally saw the secret movie!

A few Heroes Reborn trailers have surfaced, showing many faces new and old. The return of Noah Bennett, Angela Petrelli, Matt Parkman, Micah Sanders, and Hiro Nakamura made me smile (while Mohinder and The Haitain were both met with a resounding "meh, mkay"). This roster is impressive, but I hope that Tim Kring has a few surprise guests up his very loose, wizard sleeves. Here are 5 characters I'd love to see in Heroes Reborn.

Emma Coolidge
Emma was a breath of fresh air and one of my all-time favorite live action sci-fi characters. I mean, how many deaf sirens capable of seeing and manipulating soundwaves can you name? While other characters fell victim to character-defining tropes and stereotypes, Emma was intelligent, sarcastic, flawed, and debatably the most relateable of the cast. It's highly unlikely that she could make a return, but goddamn she was so cool that I want more.

Claire Bennett/"Exposed Future" Claire Bennett
Given Noah's return, Claire-bear's comeback just makes sense. While Heroes nearly exhausted Claire's storyline of coming to terms with her powers and trying to live a normal life, Season 3 introduced an alternate future version of Claire worth revisiting. Heroes Reborn seemingly takes place in a reality where people know that "heroes" exist, similar to that of the "Exposed Future" timeline where Nathan revealed the existence of heroes. This future created a hardened, gun-toting Claire who wasn't afraid to get dirty and get shit done. A perfect partner to help Noah get shit done.

"Barbara", sister of Tracy Strauss and Niki Sanders
I have a soft spot for Ali Larter and the Strauss (assuming that's their birth name since Tracy wasn't married) triplets. Niki was an interesting concept that dissolved into a complete mess (I still don't understand what her power was) but Tracy was a underrated badass (dat cold snap, tho). I'd be intrigued to see what powers Barbara brings to the table and it'd be fascinating to see Micah meet another one of his aunts. Which, by the way, how heartbreaking to have to keep meeting a spitting image of your dead mother who doesn't recognize you at all.

Sylar
There's no denying that Sylar was quintessential to the success of Heroes. Whether playing hero, villain, or whatever gray area inbeween, he was an intriguing character rooted center stage in Heroes' drama. Considering Heroes Reborn's angle of learning the truth behind the Odessa event, it's not too far fetched that Sylar would make a return. Besides, it would be interesting to see what other powers he's acquired over time, or at least explore how acquiring so many different powers could affect someone's psyche (aside from that easily explained "hunger" storyline).

NOT Peter Petrelli
I'm breaking the rules of my own list; I don't want to see Peter in Heroes Reborn. Peter's power was kind of cool, but when his character became too powerful, they retconned him into another version of Sylar before becoming a watered down version of Sylar. If you take away Peter's powers (and pretty boy looks) then he's simply a guy who's so blinded by justice and doing the right thing that he often messes everything up. He's kind of that little brother that you want to stay home because he's going to ruin everything. So stay home, Peter; don't ruin Heroes: Reborn. Angela Petrelli is the only Petrelli we need.

Honorable Mentions: Eric Doyle, Lauren "Iron Maiden" Gilmore, Ando, Monica Dawson, and Molly Walker.
